    Equipment principle and overview

    1. Equipment principle

    The FLP fluidized bed drying and coating machine is a multifunctional equipment that integrates spray drying, granulation, centrifugal pill making, and fluidized coating and drying. The machine is compatible with a variety of process operations.

    Put the powder for granulation or the granular (powder) material for coating into the fluidized bed. Cold air enters from the heating chamber at the rear of the main machine and passes through the initial effect. Medium efficiency filtration. The heater heats to the temperature required for the inlet air and then enters the fluidized bed. The powder (granules) is fluidized in the bed. The binder for granulation is sent to the two-fluid atomizer by the infusion pump and sprayed to the Fluidized materials. The powders bridge with each other and aggregate into granules and grow up or form a film on the material to be coated. After the water evaporates, it is taken out of the machine by the exhaust air.

    In the rotating fluidized bed, the powder or masterbatch is affected by the buoyancy of the ambient air, the centrifugal force of rotation and its own gravity, and forms a circumferential strand shape. The binder is sprayed into the material to form pellets with extremely high true sphericity.

    Depending on the power source and form of fluidization, fluidized granulation coating technology can be divided into four types:

    Equipment structure description

    The fluidized drying coating machine is mainly composed of an air inlet filtration system, an air heating system, a host system, a feeding and atomization system, a product filtration system and a control system.

    Our company combines foreign advanced dry coating technology of the same kind and the practical experience accumulated by our company's technical staff over a long period of time. We have achieved the following points during the design process:

    Ⅰ. Air inlet filtration system: The air inlet adopts two-level filtration (primary effect, medium effect). In special circumstances, high-efficiency filtration can be used, and the air can reach 300,000 levels of purification.

    Ⅱ. Air heating system:

    Air heating consists of electric heating tubes, electric heaters and hot air pipes, etc. It is suitable for a variety of heat sources and can utilize existing heat sources in real time according to on-site conditions.

    Ⅲ. Host system: The host system can be divided into base, raw material fluidization bottom cylinder, drying chamber and top dust filter chamber.

    Base: The disc-shaped head of the valve seat facilitates thorough cleaning of the valve seat. The lowest point is equipped with a fully automatic drain valve connected by a quick opening method. It is connected to the side supports and has a hanging design, making it easy to clean the machine and the lower part. The seal between the bottom chamber and the lifting section is a strong inflatable silicone ring.

    Raw material fluidization bottom cylinder: There are currently three main types of fluidized bed processes: top spray, bottom spray, and rotating tangential spray. Due to different equipment structures, the fluidization state of materials is also different. Using different processes, the coating quality and formulation release characteristics may vary. In principle, in order to make the coating film uniform and continuous, each process should minimize the travel of the coating droplets, that is, the distance between the droplets from the outlet of the spray gun to the surface of the substrate, so as to reduce the spray drying effect of hot air on the droplets and make the coating When the coating liquid reaches the surface of the substrate, it basically maintains its original characteristics, and the concentration and viscosity do not increase significantly to ensure ideal spreading and film-forming properties on the substrate surface and form a uniform and continuous coating film.


    1) Bottom spray process

    Also known as the Wurster system, it is the main application form of fluidized bed coating and has been widely used in coating pellets, granules, and even powders with particle sizes less than 50 μm. There is a spacer in the center of the material tank of the bottom spray device, and an air distribution plate with many small circular holes at the bottom. Since the opening rates of the corresponding parts of the chassis inside and outside the spacer are different, there is a gap inside / outside the spacer. Different inlet airflow intensities cause the particles to form regular cyclic movements inside and outside the spacer ring. The spray gun is installed inside the spacer ring, and the spray direction is the same as the movement direction of the material. Therefore, the main coating area is inside the spacer ring, and the main drying area is outside the spacer ring. The particles pass through the coating area every few seconds, completing a coating-drying cycle. All particles have a similar probability of passing through the coating area, so the coating film formed is uniform and dense.

    2) Tangential spraying process

    Tangential spraying technology is comparable to bottom spraying technology and has the same three physical characteristics: 1) Liquid spraying in the same direction, the spray gun is embedded in the material, and the stroke of the coating droplets is short; 2) The probability of particles passing through the coating area is equal ;3) The particles in the coating area are highly dense and the spray liquid loss is small. Due to these characteristics, the quality of the coating film formed by tangential spraying is better, which is equivalent to that of the coating film formed by bottom spraying, and can be applied to aqueous or organic solvent coating processes. The material trough of the tangential spray device is cylindrical, with a speed-adjustable turntable at the bottom. There is a gap between the turntable and the tank wall to allow the inlet airflow to pass. The size of the gap is adjusted through the height of the turntable to change the linear velocity of the inlet air flow. Due to the action of three forces: the centrifugal force generated by the rotation of the turntable, the driving force of the inlet air flow, and the gravity of the particles themselves, the particles move in a spiral centrifugal state. The spray gun is installed on the side wall of the material tank, and the spray direction is along the tangential direction of the material movement.

    3) Top spray process

    Top spray is mainly used for water-based gastric or enteric coating, and is generally not used for sustained and controlled release. The particles in the top spray device are driven by the inlet airflow and accelerate from the material tank through the coating area. The spray direction of the spray gun is consistent with the particles. The direction of movement is opposite. After passing through the coating area, the particles enter the expansion chamber. The diameter of the expansion chamber is larger than the diameter of the material trough, so the linear velocity of the air flow weakens, and the particles fall back into the material trough due to gravity.

    Drying room

    1. The middle cylinder is an important part of the system. It gives the material enough boiling fluidization diffusion area, which directly affects the effect of the finished product. The observer is placed at the rear of the fluidization diffusion chamber (includes a stainless steel glass observer) and can be equipped with an industrial spotlight. Mounting hole base and cover with multiple vertical jet atomization systems. Quick release cover is easy to install and remove. Once installed, the lid is flush with the inner wall of the container.

    2. The middle barrel can be equipped with an automatic production suction port. Put the material into the barrel, close the main air flow regulating valve, and then open the suction valve. The material will be transported to the material container through the material feeding valve in the spray drying chamber under the negative pressure formed by the main suction fan (the material is fed under negative pressure). The material in the barrel can also be fed into the material container by pulling out the container of the main machine (manual feeding).

    Dust removal filter chamber: Different dust removal methods should be used for different raw materials to maximize the yield. Using the air bag installation method, the filter bag can avoid the complexity of the previous filter bag, which can only be fixed at the rear of the filter chamber flange, and is therefore more compliant with GMP requirements.

    The anti-rotation structure of the filter bag holder can avoid the distortion of the collection bag caused by the rotation of the filter bag holder, causing the shelf to be shortened, and prevent the collection bag from being damaged due to protruding from the cylinder. The specially structured filter suspension frame is connected to the vibration device. Featuring automatic guidance and locking functions, the filter's transient response to cylinder vibration significantly improves cleaning results. The exhaust gas contains a small amount of dust. To prevent the external environment from being polluted, cyclone dust removal (optional) or bag dust removal can be used to collect dust from the exhaust gas. And the collected dust can be recycled.

    Feeding and atomization system

    ● The feeding pump is controlled manually and automatically through a frequency converter, and the feeding speed is uniform.

    ● Atomizing spray gun, stainless steel coating base spray gun/three-fluid spray gun, etc. Various types of spray guns can be selected according to different materials. They have the characteristics of small size, light weight, easy cleaning and maintenance.

    ● Liquid cylinder: stainless steel barrel 20L/pneumatic mixing, various sizes and mixing modes can be selected according to different materials. The materials are kept flowing during the mixing process to avoid material sedimentation and unevenness.

    Control system: Human-machine interface + PLC program control can be used to display the working status in real time. Input and output module data are collected online. The system displays the control temperature, pressure, material pump speed, over-temperature and over-pressure alarms; password permissions are set to prevent accidental changes. Randomly change parameters; fuzzy control of inlet and outlet air temperatures with an error of ±1°C; PLC program control and interlocking to prevent equipment misoperation and ensure safe and stable operation of equipment; the control cabinet is equipped with an emergency stop button to allow immediate shutdown in emergency situations.
