The disc centrifuge is a kind of vertical centrifuge. The drum of the disc centrifuge is installed on the upper end of the vertical shaft, and the vertical shaft of the disc centrifuge is driven by a motor through a transmission device to rotate at a high speed. There is a set of disc-shaped parts nested together in the drum of the disc centrifuge - discs.
Working principle of disc centrifuge
There is a set of disc-shaped parts nested together in the drum of the disc centrifuge - discs. There is a small gap between the discs of the disc centrifuge. Suspension (or emulsion) is fed into the drum through the feed pipe located in the center of the drum of the disc centrifuge. When the suspension (or emulsion) flows through the gap between the discs of the disc centrifuge, solid particles (or liquid droplets) settle on the discs of the disc centrifuge under the action of the centrifuge to form sediment (or liquid layer). The sediment slides along the disc surface of the disc centrifuge to separate from the disc and accumulate in the largest diameter part of the drum of the disc centrifuge, and the separated liquid is discharged from the drum of the disc centrifuge through the liquid outlet.
The role of the disc of the disc centrifuge is to shorten the settling distance of solid particles (or liquid droplets) and expand the settling area of the drum. The disc installed in the drum of the disc centrifuge greatly improves the production capacity of the separator. The solids accumulated in the drum of the disc centrifuge are removed manually after the separator is shut down, or discharged from the drum through the slag discharge mechanism without stopping the machine.
Two operations of the disc centrifuge
1. Liquid-solid separation (i.e. separation of bottom concentration suspension), called clarification operation.
2. Liquid-liquid separation (or liquid-liquid-solid) separation (ie separation of emulsion), called separation operation.
